About

Small on purpose

Calm Paws exists because the dogs we love most do badly in busy group care. Fewer dogs, more attention, and a routine that looks like the one they already know.

Lisa

Owner and primary caregiver

Hi, I'm Lisa, the heart behind Calm Paws Dog Care.

My love for dogs starts at home with my girl, Lucy, who is now 16 years old. Caring for her has taught me just how important patience, routine and individual attention are to a dog's happiness. I grew up caring for larger breeds such as border collies, huskies and German shepherds.

I created Calm Paws Dog Care to offer something different from traditional boarding: a quiet, boutique, home-style experience with a maximum of two guest dogs at a time.

Whether your dog is a senior, a little anxious, or simply happier in a calmer environment, my goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable and loved while you're away.

Philosophy

Personal attention is the whole product

Everything here follows from one decision: take fewer dogs than the schedule could hold.

  • One caregiver

The same person meets your dog, walks your dog, and writes your updates. No rotating staff, no last-minute substitutes you have never met.

  • Routines are sacred

Dogs read routine as safety. We copy your feeding times, walk length, commands and settling habits rather than asking your dog to adapt to ours.

  • Comfort over stimulation

A good day is a long sniffy walk and a deep afternoon sleep — not four hours of forced socialising with strange dogs.

Approach

How we handle the tricky parts

  • Nervous and reactive dogs

Quiet streets, distance from triggers, and no forced greetings. We would rather walk a boring route calmly than a scenic one badly.

  • Puppies

Short and frequent, following your training plan and your vet's advice on distance and socialisation. We never undo your work.

  • Senior and medical dogs

Slow pace, medication handled carefully and logged, and an eye on appetite, mobility and mood so changes get flagged early.

  • Handover and keys

Access details are confirmed in writing. Keys and fobs are coded, stored securely, and never labelled with your address.

The meet and greet is free, takes about half an hour, and tells you far more than any website can.
